BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS-1 24/2/2012

This is a poster I've composed in the course ARCH1142 last semester. It is about representing models in real environments. I have built the model by stacking several white foam boards together, and cutting out the middle part of the foam boards. I made slightly changes in the shapes of each foam board, so when they are glued together, the idea of change is emphasized. The top three images is the segments of the flip book I made for the model. The bottom two images is the Photoshop work I did that addressing models in real environments.
This magnificent modern architecture is the Seagram Building designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It is one of the best buildings of representing the idea of functionalist architecture. The building clearly conveys the saying by Mr Rohe 'less is more'.

The image is a corner tower sitting on the forbidden city wall. There are two reasons of choosing this image. Firstly, the delicate oriental building is beautiful and well-designed. Secondly, with the colour of the sky and the reflection from the river, this image appeals peaceful.
